Active Inquiry : Layers of Leith

Layers of Leith is a project which started in October 2019 to explore the merger of Edinburgh and Leith in 2020 and what that means for Leith today. Working with writer Duncan Kidd, the group devised an original script which had just begun rehearsals before lockdown. The original plan was to perform it in 2020 but they hope that it will now be able to be performed in 2021. This film is a glimpse into the story and characters in the script.

Active Inquiry is an arts company based in Leith committed to creating exciting new theatre and arts projects with and for communities. Flashback Drama is a theatre group for any adults who want to devise and perform their own theatre, with a particular interest in stories of Leith. They have performed in the previous 12 Leith Festivals at Out of the Blue.
